Day 01

Arrive in Paro International Airport

Altitude: ~2,300 m Cycling: Nil / optional 5–10 km easy spin Ride Time: 30–60 min optional Arrive in the serene Paro Valley and settle into a welcoming local guesthouse. Meet the cycling team, check the bicycles and enjoy a gentle warm-up ride if desired. The evening is kept relaxed to allow the body to adjust to Bhutan's altitude. Overnight: Paro – Local Guesthouse.

Day 02

Paro- Tiger's Nest – A Himalayan Pilgrimage

Altitude: Paro ~2,300 m | Tiger's Nest ~3,120 m Cycling: Nil Hike: Approx. 10–12 km return Walking Time: 4–5 hrs Today belongs to Taktsang Monastery, or Tiger's Nest, dramatically perched on a cliff high above the Paro Valley. The hike through pine forest and prayer-flag-lined trails provides an ideal acclimatisation day before the serious cycling begins. Overnight: Paro – Local Guesthouse.

Day 03

Over Chele La into Haa Valley

Altitude: Chele La ~3,800–4,000 m | Haa ~2,700 m Cycling: ~55–75 km Ride Time: 5–7 hrs The first major Himalayan cycling challenge. Climb through pine and rhododendron forests towards Chele La, Bhutan's highest motorable pass, before enjoying a long descent into the secluded Haa Valley. Published cycling itineraries place the Paro–Haa ride at around 45–75 km depending on the starting point and routing. Overnight: Haa – Traditional Homestay. Ride character: Challenging.

Day 04

Cycling Through the Haa Valley

Altitude: ~2,700 m Cycling: ~30–40 km Ride Time: 3–4 hrs A gentler day exploring the peaceful Haa Valley. Ride through farmland, traditional villages and quiet country roads, stopping along the way to meet local residents and experience Bhutanese rural life. Overnight: Haa – Traditional Homestay. Ride character: Moderate.

Day 05

Haa to Dobji Dzong

Altitude: ~2,500–2,800 m Cycling: ~50–60 km Ride Time: 4½–6 hrs Leave Haa behind and follow winding Himalayan roads towards historic Dobji Dzong. The landscape gradually becomes more secluded as you ride through forests and remote settlements. Settle into camp near the dzong for a memorable evening under the mountain sky. Overnight: Dobji Dzong – Mountain Camp Ride character: Challenging,

Day 06

Dobji Dzong to Thimphu

Altitude: Thimphu ~2,300 m Cycling: ~45–55 km Ride Time: 4–5 hrs Continue towards Bhutan's capital, following a combination of forested slopes and valley roads. The final approach brings you into Thimphu, where traditional Bhutanese architecture meets the energy of the country's modern capital. Overnight: Thimphu – Local Guesthouse Ride character: Moderate.

Day 07

Thimphu to Punakha – Across Dochula

Altitude: Thimphu ~2,300 m | Dochula ~3,100 m | Punakha ~1,300 m Cycling: ~70–75 km Ride Time: 5–6½ hrs One of the signature rides of the journey. Climb from Thimphu towards Dochula Pass, crowned by its famous 108 chortens, before beginning a spectacular descent into the warmer Punakha Valley. A published Bhutan cycling route gives approximately 71 km and 5–6 hours for this stage. Overnight: Punakha – Riverside Camp / Local Guesthouse Ride character: Challenging.

Day 08

Cycling the Punakha Valley

Altitude: ~1,300 m Cycling: ~30–40 km Ride Time: 3–4 hrs A relaxed valley ride through one of Bhutan's most fertile regions. Cycle beside rivers, through rice fields and traditional villages, with time to explore Punakha Dzong and enjoy the valley's warmer climate. Overnight: Punakha – Riverside Camp / Local Guesthouse Ride character: Easy–Moderate.

Day 09

Punakha to Chuzomza

Altitude: ~1,500–1,800 m Cycling: ~40–50 km Ride Time: 4–5 hrs Follow quieter roads deeper into Bhutan's countryside. The route gradually leaves the more familiar tourist landscape behind, passing through forested hills, small settlements and riverside communities. Overnight: Chuzomza – Local Guesthouse Ride character: Moderate.

Day 10

Chuzomza to Phobjikha Valley

Altitude: Phobjikha ~2,900–3,000 m Cycling: ~50–60 km Ride Time: 5–6½ hrs A spectacular mountain stage leading into the highland world of Phobjikha. The road climbs steadily towards the valley, where the scenery changes dramatically into broad alpine meadows and forested mountains. Overnight: Phobjikha – Mountain Camp Ride character: Challenging.

Day 11

Explore Phobjikha Valley

Altitude: ~3,000 m Cycling: ~20–40 km Ride Time: 2½–4 hrs A slower day at altitude. Explore the valley by bicycle, visiting traditional villages and Gangtey Monastery. The valley floor provides some of the easiest cycling of the journey, although the altitude itself makes the ride more demanding than the gradients. Overnight: Phobjikha – Mountain Camp Ride character: Easy–Moderate.

Day 12

Phobjikha to Khotokha Valley

Altitude: Phobjikha ~3,000 m | Khotokha ~2,600–2,800 m Cycling: ~45–55 km Ride Time: 4½–6 hrs Leave the open meadows of Phobjikha and cycle towards the secluded Khotokha Valley. Expect forested climbs, exhilarating descents and beautiful views across the less-visited landscapes of western Bhutan. Overnight: Khotokha – Valley Camp Ride character: Challenging.

Day 13

Khotokha to Wangdue Phodrang

Altitude: Khotokha ~2,600 m | Wangdue ~1,300 m Cycling: ~45–55 km Ride Time: 4–5 hrs A rewarding downhill-oriented stage towards the warmer Wangdue Valley. As the altitude falls, the landscape becomes greener and more temperate. Arrive in Wangdue Phodrang and enjoy a relaxed final evening after completing the major cycling stages. Overnight: Wangdue Phodrang – Local Guesthouse Ride character: Moderate.

Day 14

Wangdue Phodrang to Paro – Rest & Relaxation

Altitude: Paro ~2,300 m Cycling: Optional 10–15 km Ride Time: 1 hr optional Return to Paro by vehicle, giving your legs a well-earned rest. The afternoon is free to stroll through Paro, browse local handicrafts or simply relax at your accommodation. For those still eager to ride, an easy local spin can be arranged. Overnight: Paro – Local Guesthouse / Boutique Hotel.

Day 15

Depart Bhutan

After breakfast, transfer to Paro International Airport for your onward flight, bringing to a close a remarkable journey through Bhutan's mountain passes, valleys, villages and Buddhist heritage.
